FREETOWN – Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Allieu Turay, the Director of Support Services at the Sierra Leone Police Headquarters, has publicly rejected allegations circulating on social media that linked him to an alleged road traffic incident, describing the claims as false, malicious, and defamatory.
In a public statement, ACP Turay said a blogger identified as Kays Young Cele Young had wrongly used his photograph in police uniform in connection with allegations that he said have no factual basis.
Turay stated that he has never served as a Local Unit Commander (LUC) in any police division, including Lumley Division, where the alleged incident was reportedly linked.
He maintained that he has no knowledge of, or involvement in, the alleged road traffic accident referenced in the online publication.
The senior police officer outlined his career within the Sierra Leone Police, saying he began his service at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Port Loko before serving at CID Headquarters.
He also recalled being seconded to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) as one of its founding investigators on a three-year assignment.
According to Turay, his career also includes service in the Complaints, Discipline and Internal Investigations Department (CDIID), an assignment with the Special Court for Sierra Leone, and an international deployment as a Police Adviser with the African Union Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan.
Upon returning from the peacekeeping mission, he said he served as Deputy Head of Internal Audit, later becoming Head of Procurement and Budget Officer for the Sierra Leone Police before assuming his current role as Director of Support Services.
ACP Turay said he has maintained an unblemished professional record throughout his policing career, emphasizing his commitment to discipline, integrity, professionalism, human rights, and the rule of law.
He categorically denied all allegations made against him, insisting they were intended to damage his reputation. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Sierra Leone with honour, impartiality, and integrity.
The allegations referenced by ACP Turay have not been independently verified, and the blogger named in his statement has not publicly responded to the claims at the time of publication.
