Lungi – The Sierra Leone Police (SLP), Lungi Division, has embarked on a school sensitisation programme aimed at educating pupils on the dangers of domestic violence, sexual offences and early marriage.
The sensitisation exercise was conducted on Monday, 26 October 2026, at Afro International World Bridges Junior and Senior Secondary School in Kasongha, Lungi.
During the engagement, police officers highlighted the negative effects of domestic violence, the seriousness of sexual offences and the dangers and consequences of early marriage. The discussions were intended to raise awareness among pupils, encourage responsible behaviour and promote the protection of children’s rights and welfare.
The session also provided an opportunity for pupils to interact directly with the police. They raised critical questions and concerns on issues affecting their safety and well-being, which were addressed by the officers.
The engagement forms part of efforts to strengthen police-community relations, promote child protection and encourage pupils to speak up against abuse and other harmful practices.
Through such school-based sensitisation programmes, the Sierra Leone Police continues to promote awareness, support safer learning environments and encourage collaboration between the police, schools and communities in protecting children and young people.
