The National Revenue Authority (NRA) and the National Communications Authority (NatCA) have issued a stern warning to all stakeholders in Sierra Leone’s telecommunications sector, including Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and broadcast operators, regarding outstanding revenue obligations owed to the government.
In a public notice rreleased yesterday, the NRA and NatCA reminded operators of their financial responsibilities under the NRA Act of 2022.
The notice emphasized that failure to settle these obligations would result in strict enforcement actions aimed at recovering the outstanding revenues.
The announced measures include the potential sealing of non-compliant businesses’ premises, garnishment of their bank accounts, and travel restrictions on operators and their key executives until the liabilities are cleared.
The authorities urged all affected operators to act swiftly to avoid these enforcement actions and potential legal consequences as stipulated under the NRA Act of 2022.
The Commissioner-General of the NRA signed the notice, calling for immediate compliance to maintain the financial and regulatory health of the sector.
