Freetown, Sierra Leone — The Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security has issued a public notice calling all recruitment agencies to a mandatory meeting aimed at strengthening compliance with national and international labour standards.
In the notice dated 6 August 2026, the Ministry reminded stakeholders that the establishment, operations and management of recruitment agencies are governed by ILO Convention 181 on Private Employment Agencies, together with Regulations 49 to 60 of the Employment Regulation 2023.
The Ministry stated that strict adherence to these provisions is required, particularly in relation to general labour administration.
Officials said the move is intended to promote compliance with Sierra Leone’s labour laws and uphold international best practices.
All recruitment agencies have been invited to attend a meeting on Thursday, 13 August 2026 at 2:00 p.m. prompt in the Conference Room of the Ministry at New England Ville, Freetown.
The meeting will focus on critical issues relating to recruitment practices, with particular emphasis on the cited legal provisions, to better position recruiters to continue their operations lawfully.
The notice was signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security.
