The Sierra Leone Police has recorded a significant milestone in its disciplinary and accountability framework as the Complaints, Discipline, Internal Investigations Department (CDIID), on Friday 31st July 2026, conducted its first-ever disciplinary hearing at the Freetown-East Regional Headquarters, Ross Road, Freetown.
The landmark hearing marks the beginning of a decentralised disciplinary process within the Sierra Leone Police, bringing internal accountability mechanisms closer to the regions while reinforcing professionalism, transparency, and discipline among personnel.
The proceeding was presided over by Inspector Donald A. Taylor of the Legal and Justice Department, supported by Sub-Inspector S.J. Sesay, Sub-Inspector Arnold J.J. Caulker, and Cpl. Tommy Richard, the Freetown-East Regional CDIID Coordinator.
The disciplinary matter involves two serving police officers facing five counts of alleged disciplinary offences, including conduct prejudicial to good order and discipline, and other related offences.
The successful commencement of the historic hearing was made possible under the leadership of the Regional Commander, AIG Brima Kanneh, whose commitment to strengthening accountability within the Region continues to enhance public confidence.
The initiative also received the support of the Local Unit Commander, CSP Fayia David Joshua, and the coordination of the Freetown-East CDIID Coordinator, whose efforts were instrumental in bringing the disciplinary process to the Regional Headquarters.
Speaking briefly on the significance of the development, AIG Brima Kanneh expressed his full support for the establishment of disciplinary hearings within the Region, describing it as a major step towards promoting professionalism and ensuring that every police officer remains accountable for their actions.
