The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Conrad Sackey has issued a set of guidelines for parents and guardians ahead of tomorrow’s National Primary School Examination (NPSE), which will see 166,839 pupils sit the nationwide exams.
The candidates include 79,862 boys and 86,977 girls, according to the ministry.
In a public statement, Minister Sackey urged parents and guardians to cooperate with authorities in ensuring a calm, orderly, and conducive environment for candidates during the examinations.
The minister instructed parents to drop off their children or wards at examination centres promptly and on time, while also advising them to hand over lunch or refreshments either directly to the pupils or through school officials.
Parents and guardians were further directed to leave school compounds immediately after drop-off and return only at the end of the examination period to pick up their children.
According to the minister, lingering within examination centres during the exams is strongly discouraged, as it could create unnecessary distractions and anxiety for candidates.
The minister said adherence to the guidelines would help maintain order and uphold the integrity of the examination process across the country.
Meanwhile, the minister encouraged pupils to remain confident and focused throughout the exams, describing the NPSE as an important milestone in their academic journey.
The National Primary School Examination serves as the official transition examination from primary to junior secondary education in Sierra Leone.
