A late-night thunderstorm turned tragic in a community within Kono District, leaving three people dead and residents reeling from shock and grief.
The storm, which struck around 11:00 PM, brought with it heavy rain and powerful lightning.
Eyewitnesses reported that the victims were fatally struck as bolts of lightning lit up the night sky. Despite the efforts of nearby residents to assist, all three individuals were confirmed dead at the scene.
In the wake of the incident, local authorities have turned to traditional channels for answers, summoning Ariyogbo, Kono’s revered spiritual investigators. Their role will be to explore any deeper cultural or spiritual implications tied to the lightning strike—an approach deeply rooted in local belief systems.
Community elders and relatives of the deceased have called for unity and patience as they await the outcome of the investigation.
“We believe in our traditions and trust that Ariyogbo will help us understand what has happened,” said one of the local chiefs.
Preparations for burial are currently underway, while officials are advising the public to exercise caution as the rainy season intensifies.
Further information will be released as the investigation progresses.
