By Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh
Listen, in my young and adulthood, I only use my platform to elevate others, in particular young people. I do that with absolutely no expectation or requirement. In these photos taken a few days ago at Drizilik’s show, I felt alive spending time with diverse Sierra Leoneans who were supporting another Sierra Leonean at an inflection point of his career. We had seasoned athletes, artists, designers, etc all just being themselves and celebrating another Sierra Leonean.
In the crowd was:
– Our most successful Sierra Leonean football ever in Europe
– Our most successful Sierra Leonean footballer ever in the Americas
– Winner of the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Design in UK
– The owner of MMK brand (who’s shirt I was wearing that evening. How dope to meet the designer herself!?!?!)
– The first Sierra Leonean MD of a major international bank
And a couple of Ministers
If someone uses our joy and celebration of others to conclude that:
1. Because we publicly support one person, it must mean we are against you
Or
2. Because they praise one person then it means you are cursed
Then y’all need a mentality shift.
Actually I know what you need to do… listen to my new track with a bunch of amazing creatives called “Win” in which I say:
“If you wanna be great, na for lef di hate… if ar win, you win. If you loss ar win”.
