Former President of Sierra Leone, Ernest Bai Koroma is set to resume questioning at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today, Wednesday, December 20, 2023.
This follows a requested break by the ex-president’s legal team, as announced during the Government’s Weekly Press Conference.
Minister of Information, C. Bah, confirmed the continuation of the iinquiry.
During last week press brifing, the Inspector General of Police, William Fayia Sellu officially declared Ernest Bai Koroma as a suspect in connection to the crimes surrounding the November 26th attempted coup.
Contrary to initial assumptions, Koroma is not just assisting the police with inquiries but is now a prime focus of their investigation.
“As long as we have administered a caution on you, based on the constitution, at the Police Station, you are a suspect,” IGP Sellu stated.
Despite his status as a former president, Koroma has not been incarcerated like other treason suspects. Instead, he is under strict confinement within his residence in Goderich, as confirmed by the Police IG during the briefing.
The interrogation of the former President is set to continue until a conclusion is reached in the ongoing investigation into the alleged failed coup.
