Arsenal’s promising winger, Osman Kamara, has been named in Sierra Leone’s 26-man squad for the upcoming TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
This marks the Shooting Stars’ first appearance in the tournament, set to commence on April 27, 2025.
Kamara, 18, is among nine foreign-based players selected by Head Coach Mohamed Lamin Kamara. The squad features talents from clubs across Europe and the United States, including representatives from Premier League sides Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United.
Born in London to Sierra Leonean parents, Kamara joined Arsenal’s academy at age eight after a successful trial. He progressed through the ranks, signing his first professional contract in June 2024. In the 2023/24 season, Kamara scored nine goals and provided two assists in 14 U18 Premier League appearances, also featuring for the U21s in Premier League 2.
Sierra Leone’s U-20 team secured their AFCON spot by defeating The Gambia 3-0 in the semi-finals of the WAFU A U20 tournament in September 2024. They are placed in Group C alongside Senegal, Gambia, and Kenya.
Kamara’s inclusion brings youthful energy and international experience to the squad, as Sierra Leone aims to make a strong impression in their AFCON debut.
