Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No.1 has sentenced Sheku Tejan Conteh, a teacher, and four other persons, to six months in prison each for unlawful assembly and procession.
He handed the judgement down on Friday 15th September 2023 after the five accused persons had been found guilty of the charges.
The convicts Mohamed Kargbo, John Bangura, Alusine Kamara, Ibrahim S. Foday and Sheku Tejan Conteh made their first appearance in court and were arraigned on two charges: unlawful assembly and procession, and behaving in a disorderly manner.
According to the particulars of offence on Tuesday 13th June 2023 at Foamex Junction in Calaba Town failed to give notice and conducted a procession and also behaved in a disorderly manner.
On their first appearance the charges were read and explained to them, and they pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Ngegba found the accused persons guilty on count one and not guilty on count two. He therefore sentenced each of the accused persons to a jail term of Six months imprisonment at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
Police Sergeant 8975 Ibriham S. Bangura prosecuted the matter.
