In a tragic incident suspected to be linked to food poisoning, two children, Abdul Akin Bangura, age 2, and Olivia Conteh, age 14, were found dead on September 15, 2024, at their residence on 10 Lardner Street, Off Fourah Bay Road, Freetown.
Two other children, Sulaiman Bangura, age 5, and Ramatu Bangura, age 7, remain in critical condition and are currently receiving treatment at Cottage Hospital.
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Connaught Mortuary, where investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of death.
Preliminary reports indicate that the children’s mother had prepared fried chicken and fish the night before, intended for breakfast. It is still unclear whether the food was consumed before the tragic incident.
