The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Executive Committee has issued a formal disclaimer in response to a press release dated September 27, 2024, purportedly issued by the SLFA’s Media Department, announcing the appointment of officials to the Premier League Board for the 2024/25 season.
The Executive Committee has emphasized that, according to the SLFA Statutes of 2019 (as amended), only the committee holds the mandate to appoint officials to the Premier League Board, including its chairperson. In a letter dated September 25, 2024, the committee officially rejected the appointment of Mr. Victor Lewis as the Chairman of the League Board.
The SLFA Executive Committee is urging the public and its members to disregard the unauthorized press release, labeling the appointments as null and void.
They also called on the Government of Sierra Leone, through the Ministry of Sports, National Sports Authority, and sponsors, to distance themselves from these unapproved officials.
The committee reassured football stakeholders that they would soon announce the official leadership and members of the Premier League Board for the 2024/25 season.
The statement concluded with a commitment to uphold constitutional integrity and prevent any abuse of office within the SLFA.
