The Office of the President has revealed several significant appointments, as confirmed by His Excellency, President Brigadier (Rtd) Dr. Julius Maada Bio.
The new appointments, announced on November 15, 2024, are expected to strengthen Sierra Leone’s regional and international representation.
Mr. John Abu has been named the Resident Minister for the Southern Region, while Ambassador Amara S. Sowa will represent Sierra Leone as Ambassador to Washington DC, USA.
In diplomatic roles, Mdm. Michaela B.E. Swallow has been appointed Deputy Permanent Representative (Legal) to the United Nations, and Mr. Kalilu Totangi will take on the role of Deputy Permanent Representative (Political) to the UN. Additionally, Mdm. Mamadi Ngobeh Kamara has been selected as Deputy Ambassador to Paris, France.
Further expanding Sierra Leone’s leadership, Prof. Dr. Joe A.D. Alie will serve as the Presidential Librarian and Archivist.
These appointments are seen as a crucial step toward enhancing the country’s international relations and advancing its interests globally.
