Freetown, Sierra Leone — The Inspector General of Police, William Fayai Sellu, has dismissed three police officers after investigations linked them to an alleged armed robbery in Rokel, Western Area Rural District.
According to police sources, the officers were accused of using firearms and other weapons to forcibly steal valuables from residents.
A probe by the Complaints, Discipline, and Internal Investigations Department (CDIID) found them guilty of gross misconduct.
The CDIID recommended their immediate removal from the Sierra Leone Police and subsequent prosecution — a move later approved by the Executive Management Board.
The case has now been referred for legal proceedings. Police authorities have stressed that the decision reflects the force’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption and criminal activity within its ranks, pledging swift action against any officers who betray public trust.
