Freetown, 14 August 2025 — The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has formally charged former National Revenue Authority (NRA) Finance Manager, Abu Kamara, with nine counts of possessing unexplained wealth, in violation of Section 27(1)(b) of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2008, as amended in 2019.
According to the ACC, Kamara — whose annual net salary at the NRA was Le152,790 — allegedly acquired assets far exceeding his legitimate earnings between March 2019 and June 2025.
Investigations revealed ownership of multiple properties, vehicles, and a registered company, UK Trading Mini Mart SL Ltd, with outlets in Ogoo Farm, Kobba Farm, and Bo.
The alleged assets include ten town lots in Gloucester Village, several multi-storey buildings in Western Area locations such as Black Johnson, Babadorie Hills, and Ogoo Farm, as well as a Nissan vehicle valued at Le60,000 and a Hyundai Jeep worth Le300,000.
The ACC maintains Kamara has failed to provide lawful justification for the acquisitions. He is currently at large, and the Commission intends to pursue trial in absentia, as provided under Section 89(7)(a) of the amended Act.
The ACC reaffirmed its commitment to tackling corruption and safeguarding public funds.
