Sulaiman Conteh, aged 58, was sent to trial in the Freetown High Court by Magistrate Sahr Kekura from Ross Road Court No.1. This decision came after he confessed to the murder of his younger sister, Isha Said Hughes, on July 14, 2023.
During the proceedings, Magistrate Sahr Kekura highlighted that the prosecution had presented five witnesses, with Prosecution Witness two (PW2) testifying that he had witnessed the accused using a hammer and a knife to fatally assault the victim in the bathroom.
Magistrate Kekura emphasized his role in evaluating the evidence and the accused’s confession, including the use of a hammer and knife, which left bloodstains on the weapons.
He concluded that there was sufficient evidence to proceed with the case.
During cross-examination, the accused pleaded for forgiveness from his family and expressed his guilt, indicating his willingness to provide further testimony in the High Court.
The charge sheet indicates that Sulaiman Conteh is facing one count of murder for the incident that occurred on July 14, 2023, at 6A Savage Street, Wellington, Freetown.
