Guangzhou, China – 17 September 2025 – Leading All Peoples Congress (APC) flagbearer, Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, widely known as Jagaban, has signed a landmark agreement with a prominent Chinese energy technology company to supply modern solar-powered street lights for Sierra Leone.
The deal, finalized during Jagaban’s recent business tour of China, aims to transform energy access in rural and underserved communities.
He said the project is designed to tackle chronic power shortages while boosting public safety and supporting essential services such as healthcare, education, and evening religious activities.
“Reliable, sustainable energy is critical for economic growth, community safety, and social inclusion,” Jagaban stated, highlighting the project as a key step in his plan to modernize Sierra Leone’s public electricity system and drive equitable development.
Beyond lighting, the initiative forms part of Jagaban’s broader vision to overhaul the nation’s energy and transportation sectors.
He underscored the importance of private-sector partnerships and innovative technology in addressing Sierra Leone’s infrastructure challenges.
With implementation already underway, communities across the country are anticipating the installation of the solar lights—an effort expected to bring brighter nights, safer streets, and a more connected society under Jagaban’s developmental agenda.
