In a significant development within the All Peoples Congress (APC) party, two prominent members, Comrade Mohamed Bangura and Comrade Alfred Thompson, have been suspended pending an investigation by the Disciplinary and Grievance Handling Committee.
The suspension of both members was confirmed through official letters dated September 30, 2023, and signed by Lansana Dambuya Esq., the National Secretary-General of the APC.
Allegations were made against both Comrade Mohamed Bangura and Comrade Alfred Thompson, prompting the Disciplinary and Grievance Handling Committee to initiate an inquiry. It is essential to note that the suspension does not assume guilt, but rather aims to ensure an efficient and unbiased investigation process.
The decision to suspend these members was based on a unanimous vote by committee members, by Article 13(b) of the Party’s 2022 Constitution and Article 20(b) of the Disciplinary and Grievance Handling Manual of 2023.
The suspended members are urged to cooperate fully with the committee during the investigation, and they are expected to make themselves available for the proceedings. The suspension will remain in effect until the inquiry is concluded.
The committee has also outlined that the suspension will cease to be in force on November 15, 2023, as per the provisions of Article 20(b) of the Disciplinary and Grievance Handling Manual. At that time, the committee will communicate its findings to the suspended members.
If the committee finds the suspended members innocent, their membership in the APC party will be reinstated immediately. However, if disciplinary action is deemed necessary, the members will be advised accordingly.
Both Comrade Mohamed Bangura and Comrade Alfred Thompson have been allowed to provide any important information that could shed further light on the allegations and are encouraged to reach out to the committee for clarification or assistance.
This suspension underscores the party’s commitment to upholding its standards of conduct and ensuring transparency in addressing allegations of misconduct within its ranks.
The APC party noted that they will closely monitor the progress of the inquiry and will take further actions based on the committee’s findings.
