FREETOWN, Friday 22 August 2025 — The Sierra Leone Muslim Congress Senior Secondary School at Kissy “Mess Mess” has suffered a major setback after its examinations office was gutted by fire shortly after midnight.
According to eyewitnesses, the blaze broke out in the section of the school where crucial exam records and materials were stored.
Neighbors made efforts to contain the fire but were unable to prevent extensive damage. Most of the documents were reportedly destroyed before the flames were put out.
“This school fire is really troubling; it could affect the children’s future,” a concerned resident lamented.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, but police say an investigation has been launched.
Meanwhile, education officials are assessing the extent of the damage and weighing the implications for the upcoming academic year.
