President Julius Maada Bio has approved the procurement of new vehicles for Sierra Leone’s armed forces in a move designed to modernize the military and strengthen the country’s security framework.
The initiative, government officials say, is part of a broader strategy to enhance the operational readiness of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF).
The vehicles, tailored for different military functions, are expected to improve mobility, logistics, and overall efficiency in responding to emerging security threats.
State House sources emphasized that the investment reflects President Bio’s commitment to upgrading the nation’s defense infrastructure.
The procurement, they added, is intended not only to provide immediate support for day-to-day operations but also to reinforce the long-term capacity of the military to protect Sierra Leone’s sovereignty and maintain peace.
This latest intervention adds to ongoing efforts by the Bio administration to professionalize the armed forces and ensure they are adequately resourced to meet modern security demands.
