Freetown, Sierra Leone – April 23, 2025 – The All Peoples Congress (APC) has officially rolled out its comprehensive timeline for internal party elections, setting the stage for what promises to be a pivotal build-up to the 2026 national elections.
This move reflects the party’s adherence to the Political Parties Regulation Act and a commitment to transparency and order in its internal democratic processes.
According to the announced schedule, the first major milestone comes on April 28, 2025, when the APC will submit its internal election rules and regulations to the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC), formally initiating the internal electoral process.
A key step toward grassroots mobilization will follow on July 19, 2025, with the publication of the voter and membership register ahead of the ward elections scheduled for August 10, 2025. These local-level contests will empower rank-and-file members to take part in shaping the party’s leadership at the base.
Just three days later, on August 13, 2025, the APC will release the list of delegates set to participate in the constituency conventions on September 4, 2025. These conventions will include both local and diaspora chapters, highlighting the party’s global reach.
The internal election process will intensify with district conventions on September 30, 2025, followed by regional conventions on October 24, 2025, which will also accommodate delegates from the diaspora’s sixth region. These steps aim to enhance participation and inclusiveness across all levels of the party.
In a further show of inclusivity, the APC will hold elections for various affiliated bodies and special wings on October 15, 2025, including the National Union of APC Students, Former MPs Group, Local Council representatives, the Persons with Disability Wing, and other associate groups.
Attention will then shift to special organs conventions —including the Women’s Congress, Veterans Congress, and Young Congress—set for November 17, 2025. Delegates for these bodies will be published on October 26, 2025.
The entire electoral cycle will culminate in the highly anticipated National Delegates Conference, scheduled for February 17–19, 2026. The date and venue for the event will be officially announced on August 16, 2025, with the agenda and delegate list to follow in January 2026.
This structured roadmap not only underscores the APC’s preparedness for the 2026 national elections but also signals its resolve to uphold internal democracy and engage its membership at every level.
