On Friday, September 27, 2024, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio expressed high praise for his Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, for his pivotal role in securing the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact for Sierra Leone.
Speaking at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington D.C. during the official signing ceremony between Sierra Leone and the U.S. government, President Bio lauded the Vice President for his meticulous leadership throughout the process.
“When we took up the MCC challenge, I asked VP Juldeh Jalloh to meet everyone who could help, and he did so meticulously,” President Bio said. “Thank you, VP Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh. You are not here, but you deserve all the praise.”
The President used the occasion to call for unity, urging Sierra Leoneans to rise above political divisions in the pursuit of national development.
“Sierra Leoneans are good and clever people,” he remarked. “Let us use our brains for the development of the nation. Let the synergy flow to change the fate of our country.”
In 2018, President Bio had entrusted several key programs, including the MCC, Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), and the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA), to the Office of the Vice President due to Dr. Jalloh’s extensive experience in governance and development.
Over the years, VP Jalloh has successfully managed these portfolios, earning recognition for his leadership in securing international partnerships.
The signing of the MCC Compact marks a significant milestone in Sierra Leone’s development efforts, promising to bring critical resources to the country for economic growth and poverty reduction.
