The Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) has officially submitted to the Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MoICE) details of its representative for the Board of Trustees of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), and urges the MoICE to speed up the constitution and operation of the Board.
Furthermore, SLAJ calls on the MoICE to ensure lawful, fair, and transparent implementation of the recommendations of the Anti-Corruption Commission at the SLBC.
SLAJ President, Ahmed Sahid Nasralla, said: “We have listened to our members at SLBC who fear for their jobs, and we have also listened to the MoICE Minister on the rationale and objective of their intervention in the current situation at the national broadcaster. We have also facilitated open dialogue between the Honorable Minister and some aggrieved SLBC staff. These discussions are focused on what is best for the staff and the effective operation of SLBC to serve the interest of all and sundry.”
Meanwhile, SLAJ looks forward to welcoming the newly-appointed Director General of SLBC and assuring her of our support and cooperation in making the SLBC a true public broadcaster.
