Freetown, August 25, 2025 – The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has assured the public that adequate security arrangements are in place for the visiting delegation from the Burkina Faso Motorbike Association, who arrived in Freetown on Sunday with 22 super motorbikes.
In a statement, the SLP explained that the Government of Burkina Faso, through its Honorary Consul in Sierra Leone, formally requested security support for the tour. The request, the police said, was “duly granted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.”
Police officials emphasized that there is no need for public concern.
“Adequate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety of the delegation, their hosts, and the general public throughout their stay in Sierra Leone,” the SLP stated.
The bikers, who began their regional tour on August 16, passed through Mali and Guinea before entering Sierra Leone and are scheduled to continue their journey to Liberia and Ivory Coast before returning to Burkina Faso.
Reassuring the public, the SLP added: “The Sierra Leone Police remains committed to maintaining law and order, while promoting peace, security, and regional cooperation.”
