On Friday, May 24, 2024, the Bo West Divisional Operations team, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jacob Ganda, apprehended Augustine Mallah, the Regional Chairman of the RUFP party, and his associate, Mohamed Conteh, for possession of a substantial quantity of illegal drugs.
The operation was carried out based on intelligence reports and resulted in the seizure of 40 wraps of Kush from Augustine Mallah and a quantum from Mohamed Conteh.
Both individuals are residents of Clock Tower in Bo city. The capture of a high-profile individual like Augustine Mallah underscores the Sierra Leone Police commitment to tackling illegal drug activities and sends a strong message about the consequences of engaging in such activities, regardless of one’s social or political status.
The Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) has taken over the investigation to trace the source and distribution network of the seized drugs.
Both suspects are expected to provide critical information that could lead to further arrests and dismantling of the drug trafficking ring.
