Kabala, Sunday, October 13, 2024 – Authorities in Kabala have arrested Alie Marah, a resident of Cow-Yard, in connection with the recent tampering of Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) transformers.
The arrest occurred today along Koinadugu Road as the police intensify efforts to combat electricity-related crimes in the area.
Just weeks ago, two EDSA transformers were vandalized in different locations within Kabala township, disrupting electricity supply and hindering government efforts to improve access to basic power services. In response, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Ibrahim Barrie, the Local Unit Commander of the Kabala Division, established a special Task Force to enhance nighttime patrols in collaboration with the Integrated Intelligence Services (IIS).
Today’s apprehension was made possible thanks to community intelligence, leading to Marah’s capture while he was allegedly in possession of two angle bracers connected to a transformer at Bilmaia.
During questioning, Marah confessed that he intended to use the materials to manufacture locally-made knives and machetes.
CSP Barrie has vowed a thorough investigation into the matter, promising that all individuals involved in the tampering of EDSA transformers in Kabala will be identified and prosecuted.
The ongoing efforts to secure local electric infrastructure highlight the community’s commitment to restoring reliable power services.
