The Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS) has released a public notice for the recruitment of officers, cadets/specialists, technical/tradesmen, and general duty corrections officers.
Applications are invited from eligible Sierra Leoneans meeting specific criteria.
Corrections Officer Cadet/Specialist:
– Age requirement: 18-35
– Degree from a recognized university or tertiary institution (Degrees in medicine, law, nursing, engineering, agriculture, pharmacy, mass communication, psychology, etc., are encouraged)
– Proficiency in oral and written English
– Submission of a testimonial from the attended university
– Possession of an up-to-date license/certificate relevant to the profession
Technical/Tradesmen:
– Age requirement: 18-35
– Diploma/certificate from a recognized technical and vocational training institution
– Practical demonstration of trade skills
General Duty Corrections Officer:
– Age requirement: 18-30
– Minimum of three (3) credits at WASSCE in a single sitting
Interested applicants can download the application form from [SLCS website](www.slcs.gov.sl). The form, printed with a colored stamp, should be submitted by hand in Freetown at the Correctional Service Headquarters, New England Ville, or any correctional center nationwide. The deadline for submission is February 12, 2024.
Required documents include a copy of WASSCE result, degree, certificate, birth certificate, national identity card, and two passport-sized photos.
Applicants with WASSCE results must attach a valid WAEC scratch card for result verification.
Shortlisted candidates will undergo a pre-enlistment examination in English, Mathematics, and General Paper, along with a thorough medical examination at their own expense. The names of shortlisted applicants and further selection details will be posted at correctional centers nationwide, on the SLCS website, and social media handles.
