Freetown, November 6, 2024 – Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio has extended his heartfelt congratulations to President-elect Donald J. Trump following his recent electoral victory.
In a statement issued from State House, President Bio described Trump’s win as a “profound affirmation of democracy” and praised the American people for their active engagement in the electoral process.
“I congratulate President Trump on his impressive victory,” President Bio stated. “I wish him every success as he embarks on this new mandate. Sierra Leone looks forward to the opportunities that lie ahead and to building a productive partnership with the United States of America that will benefit both our nations and contribute to a more hopeful world.”
President Bio expressed hope that Trump’s leadership will enhance the collaboration between Sierra Leone and the U.S., with an emphasis on fostering shared interests in sustainable development, economic growth, democratic institutions, and global peace.
President Bio also acknowledged the efforts of President Joe Biden, praising him for his “commendable leadership” in strengthening bilateral cooperation rooted in mutual respect and shared aspirations.
Earlier today, Donald Trump achieved a historic political comeback by defeating Vice President Kamala Harris, securing enough electoral votes to reclaim the White House. With over 68 million votes, Trump becomes the first U.S. president since Grover Cleveland to return to office after a previous defeat.
