State House, Freetown – Wednesday, July 2, 2025 – In a significant development aimed at strengthening leadership within the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), President and Commander-in-Chief, Brigadier General (Rtd.) Julius Maada Bio, has approved the promotion of four senior military officers following recommendations from the Defence Council.
The newly announced promotions are as follows:
* Major General Amara I. Bangura has been elevated to the rank of Lieutenant General.
* Brigadier General Sahr D.T. Ngaujah has been promoted to Major General.
* Brigadier General Kemoh T. Sesay also rises to the rank of Major General.
* Captain (Navy) Lawrence K. Jabati has been promoted to Commodore.
These appointments reflect the government’s continued commitment to professionalizing the military and recognizing excellence within the ranks.
