An OSD officer in Kamakwie Police Division, known as Suso Boy, has been arrested and is currently in custody at the Kamakwie police station.
According to a senior officer at the station, the arrest follows allegations that Suso Boy severely beat his girlfriend, Isatu S. Conteh, days ago.
The assault was so severe that Conteh was admitted to Kamakwie Wesleyan Hospital for treatment.
Local women’s organizations in Kamakwie are preparing to write to security officials, seeking permission for a peaceful demonstration to demand justice for Conteh.
The Kamakwie police division’s media team, along with senior officers, plans to engage the community via Okentuhun FM 94.0 to discuss the incident and reassure the public of a fair investigation.
Karene District Council Chairman Abdul Kandeh Turay also intends to address the residents of Karene through Okentuhun FM 94.0, calling for peace amid growing tensions surrounding the incident.
