The Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice issued a formal demand for compliance following the Court of Appeal’s judgment dated December 7, 2023.
In a dated 20 December 2023, and letter addressed to J.F. Kamara Esq of JFK & Partners, situated at 42 Bathurst Street, Freetown, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, on behalf of the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, highlighted the Court of Appeal’s decision to uphold the findings and recommendations of the Sole Commissioner.
The judgment, a response to a Notice of Appeal filed on October 19, 2020, mandates the payment of USD 135,000.00 and Le. 300,000,000.00 within seven days from the date of the judgment.
Solicitor General KOWA ROBERT, in the letter, emphasized the need for prompt payment into the Consolidated Revenue Fund/Commission of Inquiry Special Recovery Account No.0111003888 held at the Bank of Sierra Leone. Failure to comply within the stipulated timeframe may lead to legal proceedings, as outlined in the 5th order of the Court.
The letter concludes with a request for evidence of payment to be forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice within 48 hours from the receipt of the correspondence.
