Freetown, 8th October 2025 – Popular rapper-turned-politician Natasha Beckley has taken to social media to respond to a warrant of arrest issued against her earlier today by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP).
The SLP declared Beckley wanted in connection with the alleged production and distribution of narcotic drugs following a police raid at No. 8 Campbell Lane, off Taylor Street, Fourah Bay Road, Freetown, on June 13, 2025.
According to the police, the operation uncovered nine polythene bags of shredded leaves suspected to be marshmallow, five one-gallon containers labelled “Acetone,” three gas masks, and five old weighing scales believed to have been used in the processing and sale of Kush, a locally produced synthetic drug.
Despite multiple attempts to apprehend her, police said Beckley had evaded arrest and called on the public to provide credible information on her whereabouts.
But in a strongly worded social media post, Beckley dismissed suggestions that she was on the run, alleging that the warrant was politically motivated.
“With over 255,000 followers I use my platform to push my brands, music and political aspirations,” she wrote. “So many odds against me, and they want to intimidate me to back down. Several meetings and deliberations tried to change my mind, but I said no, I want to work in Port Loko.”
Beckley further alleged that the timing of the arrest warrant was linked to her recent political declaration.
“If you have been looking for me for months, why didn’t you arrest me on Saturday, 4th October, when I publicly declared for a political office?” she questioned.
According to her, the move was an attempt to disqualify her from contesting in elections.
“They want to give me a police record so that I don’t qualify to participate in elections. They want me to step down and find a position suitable for women. I have been in Sierra Leone for months, and suddenly, days after my declaration, I am publicly humiliated,” she said.
Clarifying her current status, Beckley insisted she was cooperating with law enforcement.
“I was not arrested, my house was not searched, I am not on the run. I am a law-abiding citizen and will cooperate with Sierra Leone Police. I am home and fine, I have contacted the police and will show up with my lawyers,” she stated.
The SLP has yet to respond to Beckley’s claims.
