Lake Production, representing the winner of Miss Sierra Leone 2023 pageant has addressed controversies around her birthplace for this year’s event.
Diaisy Princess Mujeh Abdulai who was Miss Freetown 2022 clinched the coveted title of Miss Sierra Leone 2023, marking a significant triumph for her and Miss Freetown SL Limited. Her victory stands as a testament to her unparalleled talent, unwavering dedication, and the robust support she received throughout her journey.
Daisy took immense pride in fostering her talents and guiding her to this pinnacle, fully aware of her potential to represent Freetown at the national level. The organization’s joy knows no bounds as she brings honor to the Miss Freetown brand.
However, this remarkable achievement is not without its share of discussions, particularly regarding her birthplace. Initially, it was understood that the winner of Miss Freetown would directly represent the Western Area Urban without the need for an audition, as per the agreement with the Miss Sierra Leone organization.
Yet, a significant twist occurred during the journey. It was brought to the organisers’ attention that the contestant’s birth certificate indicated her birthplace as Moyamba, her hometown, raising concerns and nearly prompting her withdrawal from the competition. At this critical juncture, the Miss Sierra Leone Board engaged in a pivotal Zoom conference call with Amb. Alhaji K. Tarawally, the CEO of the LAKE Group of Companies, appealing for their contestant to represent Moyamba instead of Freetown.
After thorough deliberation and several weeks of discussions, a unanimous decision was reached to grant the Miss Sierra Leone Board’s request. The decision was based on recognition of their appeal and the importance of their contestant representing her hometown, Moyamba. This choice was driven by a commitment to her best interests and the overarching goal of fostering unity and inclusivity within Sierra Leone.
“We stand by our contestant, acknowledging her remarkable accomplishments and the indomitable spirit she exhibited throughout the competition. She has proven herself to be a worthy representative of both Freetown and Moyamba, embodying the values of beauty, intelligence, and grace that the Miss Sierra Leone pageant represents,” stated the Miss Freetown SL Limited.
They further extended their heartfelt congratulations to their reigning Miss Freetown 2022 for securing the Miss Sierra Leone 2023 title, and expressed their gratitude to the Miss Sierra Leone Board for their willingness to engage in productive dialogues to find a solution that satisfies all parties involved.
