Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, David Moinina Sengeh, has addressed concerns raised by the leader of the country’s main opposition party, the All People’s Congress (APC), regarding recent police activities.
In response to Kamara’s post on Twitter, Sengeh stated, “I am sorry, sir. I think you’ve been misinformed.”
He clarified that police visits to confiscated properties were for ECOWAS-State security activities, not targeting opposition members.
Sengeh emphasized the importance of accurate information sharing among leaders and defended the state’s right to visit confiscated properties.
In response, APC leader Samura Kamara expressed deep concern over what he described as “unwarranted intrusion” into the homes of key party members.
Kamara highlighted the presence of heavily armed military and police personnel, raising questions about respect for the rule of law and due process. He called for an immediate cessation of such practices and urged international bodies to monitor the situation closely.
Kamara emphasized the importance of transparency, accountability, and the protection of citizens’ rights, regardless of their political affiliations.
He called for solidarity in opposing any form of harassment or intimidation, stressing the fundamental importance of upholding democratic values and respecting human rights.
The questions that says formal president koroma faces treason charges, if democracy is on trial in sierra Leone. The answer to me is NO! The rule of law is in operation, it clearly shows that the kind of duty politics that is existing in sierra Leone cannot destroy our democracy, if you misbehave, irrespective of your political affiliation you will face the full force of the law. That will give clear signal to the upcoming politicians that the rule of law is separated from politics. Things are no longer going as it use to be in those days. DO YOU WHO I AM? There is no place for such nonsense, if you are a state man, behave like one.
