Alie Marah, a resident of Cow-Yard has been sentenced to two years imprisonment for tampering with an Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) transformer located in Bilmaia.
On October 13, 2024, the Sierra Leone Police arrested Marah and was taken into custody while investigators from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) pursued allegations of malicious damage to government property, specifically targeting essential electricity supply to the public.
The investigation is nearing completion, with Marah facing additional related charges.
In a rigorous prosecution led by police prosecutor Inspector Abdul Rahman Fofanah, sufficient evidence and exhibits were presented at the Kabala Magistrate Court. Magistrate Hadiru Dabor ultimately found Marah guilty and sentenced him to a two-year prison term.
CSP Ibrahim Barrie, the Local Unit Commander of the Kabala Division, reaffirmed the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order, declaring a zero-tolerance policy toward acts of lawlessness.
