In a concerted effort to tackle drug trafficking, joint security forces at the Fallah Checkpoint apprehended Sierra Leonean national Magnus Jordan early Wednesday morning, November 20, 2024.
Jordan, a resident of Obama Junction in Regent, Freetown, was intercepted while traveling to Kenema aboard an Alie Abess bus.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Jordan was in possession of parcels containing a substance believed to be Kush, ingeniously concealed within a musical tape. The Fallah Checkpoint has earned a reputation for its diligence in intercepting illegal drug shipments.
During questioning, Jordan claimed this was his first encounter with drug-related activities. However, investigators grew suspicious when they found a digital scale and a skull driver in his belongings—items commonly associated with drug operations.
Jordan further asserted that he was headed to Kenema to sell the illicit substances to undisclosed customers.
He is currently detained at the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) at the Regional Police Headquarters South in Bo. Ongoing investigations aim to uncover his network and identify any potential accomplices.
Regional Police Commander for the South, Assistant Inspector General of Police Mr. Brima Kanneh, commended the checkpoint personnel for their diligence.
He stressed the need for rigorous search protocols to ensure that the South remains a stronghold against the trafficking of illegal goods.
“The checkpoints serve as the frontline defense against criminal activities. I urge all personnel to maintain vigilance and professionalism in their duties,” he stated.
This arrest highlights the unwavering commitment of Sierra Leone’s law enforcement agencies to disrupt the illegal drug trade and protect communities from its detrimental effects. The success of the Fallah Checkpoint reinforces its vital role in the fight against organized crime.
As the festive season approaches, the public is encouraged to collaborate with the police by reporting any suspicious activities to help maintain peace and safety throughout the country.
