Koidu City, Kono District – The Tankoro Police Division, in collaboration with the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), has arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of electricity meters in Koidu City, including one belonging to the District Chief Imam of Kono.
Sheik Kabineh Mansaray, the District Chief Imam, was among three victims who reported their meters stolen to the police. The other complainants were Mr. Alpha Jalloh and Mr. Mohamed.
Following the complaints, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Dr. Sahr Nyuma, the Local Unit Commander, immediately deployed investigators. Working closely with EDSA personnel in Kono, the team swiftly apprehended Ibrahim Lebbie and Aiah Mbayoh.
Preliminary investigations reveal that Lebbie allegedly stole the meters from various locations across the city and sold them to Mbayoh. A search conducted at Mbayoh’s premises led to the recovery of all three stolen electricity meters.
The two suspects are currently in custody at the Tankoro Divisional Police Headquarters, where they are assisting with ongoing investigations into the alleged theft syndicate.
Authorities say the arrests mark a significant step in curbing electricity infrastructure theft in the district.
