The Ministry of Trade and Industry has officially announced retail prices for a 50kg bag of rice across district headquarter towns in Sierra Leone.
This decision was reached after consultations with the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, the Sierra Leone Police, and the Indigenous Transporters Association.
In a statement, the Ministry confirmed its commitment to stabilizing rice prices nationwide, following its earlier press release on January 7, 2025.
“We are pleased to inform the public that these prices were agreed upon after extensive discussions with key stakeholders to ensure affordability and accessibility,” the statement read.
The prices for a 50kg bag of rice are as follows:

The Ministry emphasized that these prices are inclusive of all costs associated with transporting and distributing the commodity from wholesale to retail outlets.
The Ministry called on retailers to adhere strictly to the stated prices and assured the public of its continued efforts to monitor and regulate the rice market.
