Sierra Leone’s Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has unveiled a compelling photo capturing the intensity of the attacks on Pademba road prison.
The image features captured suspect Amadu Koita and wanted fugitive, dismissed Supt. Kabba Dumbuya, brandishing arms during the incident.
“Photo update: Surveillance image on November 26 shows captured suspect, Amadu Koita, and wanted fugitive, dismissed Supt. Kabba Dumbuya with arms during the attacks on Pademba road prison. Image is date and time stamped. Please contact the police on 119/900 with any information on the whereabouts of Dumbuya or any of the other wanted fugitives,” Minister Bah announced on social media.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Minister Bah officially confirmed the apprehension of Amadu Koita, a key orchestrator of the failed coup attempt on Sunday, November 26th.
The arrest, executed at approximately 11:30 pm in the Tree Planting neighborhood, was made possible through community intelligence, ensuring a peaceful capture without casualties, injuries, or gunfire.
“He was arrested, and no one died, no one was wounded, and there were no gunshots,” Minister Bah assured the public.
As the investigation unfolded, it was revealed that Koita had sought refuge with Alimatu Hassan Bangura, a sergeant of the Sierra Leone Police assigned to the Interpol Section at CID. Hassan Bangura is now in custody, actively cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
Adding another layer to the unfolding events, an Inspector from the New England Police Division was apprehended in the same premises.
The authorities are diligently piecing together the puzzle surrounding these shocking developments.
