Freetown, Sierra Leone – July 1, 2024 – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has announced the indictment of Raymond Frank Williams and Fatmata Madallo Sesay on five counts of corruption offences.
The ACC’s press release stated, “Raymond Frank Williams, First Grade Officer in the Law Officers Department of the Attorney General, residing at 121 Kissy Road, Freetown, and Fatmata Madallo Sesay, residing at Thaimu Bangura Drive, Barbadorie, Freetown, have been indicted on five counts of corruption.”
Sesay faces charges of Giving an Advantage to a Public Officer and Offering an Advantage to a Public Officer, contrary to Sections 28 (1) (c) and 35 (2) respectively of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 12 of 2008, as amended by the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Act No. 9 of 2019.
Williams is charged with Accepting an Advantage, Abuse of Office, and Use of Office for Advantage by a Public Officer, contrary to Sections 28 (2) (c), 42 (1), and 44 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 12 of 2008, as amended.
The ACC detailed the alleged offences: “Between October 1 and 30, 2022, in Freetown, Fatmata Madallo Sesay, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, gave One Million, Five Hundred Thousand (Old) Leones to Raymond Frank Williams as an inducement to assist in filing and registering a Testamentary Will with the Office of the Administrator and Registrar-General, supposedly prepared by the deceased Abdul Rahman Sesay.”
The Commission emphasized its commitment to combating corruption.
“The ACC reassures the public of its ongoing dedication to eradicating public sector corruption and all forms of corruption in Sierra Leone,” said the statement.
