President Julius Maada Bio is set to receive his colleague President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema of the Republic of Gabon. His state visit is due on 2nd of August 2026. This marks a growing strength of the bilateral relation between the two countries. In December 2020, President Bio visited Gabon where he was received at Libreville by his brother President Ali Bongo Ondimba and other senior state officials. The visit was to strengthen bilateral relation, foster economic partnership, and forged a shared path toward a common aspiration that prioritizes democratic consolidation, economic trade and investment, technological advancement, and innovative methods of advancing education.
During that visit, President Bio toured the Gabonese Special Economic Zone to engage major agricultural and industrial projects like Arize IIP being undertaken by the Central African Country. He held lengthy meetings with Chief Executive Officers of various industries and entreated them to take a business interest in the economic opportunities Sierra Leone offers in agriculture, mining, energy, technology, and telecommunications.
President Bio has utilized a considerable attention initiating diplomatic friendship, building economic partnership, and forging a shared democratic governance that does not only lead to democratic stability but economic diversification trough trade and investment. President Bio commands a leadership track record in ECOWAS, a legendary disposition at the Africa Union, and a diplomatic clout at the United Nations. He is the Chair for C-10: an African Union Committee of ten Heads of States on the United Nations Security Council. At one session he told C-10 that Africa’s underrepresentation at the UN is not just a statistical oversight, but a significant barrier to global governance, indicating a profound historical injustice that must be rectified.
The state visit by the Gabonese President, Brice Clotarire Oligui Nguema, is an expression of a renewed commitment for collaboration on shared values, shared aspirations, and shared social advancement, exhibiting a remarkable partnership in areas of political governance, trade and investment, and agriculture.
This is the first time President Brice is visiting Sierra Leone since he was constitutionally elected on May 3rd 2025. He had pledged to unite his country, reform the educational system, and tackle youth unemployment.
Brice is scheduled to make visits to touristic sites in Freetown accentuating the natural endowment defining Sierra Leone’s tourism sector. He is due to hold several high-profile meetings with senior government officials and the private sector as part of a shared effort by both countries to foster investment and trade and strengthen democratic consolidation.
