The main opposition party in Sierra Leone, the All People’s Congress (APC), has announced that its constituency elections will commence on 30 June 2026, marking another phase in the party’s ongoing internal electoral process.
The announcement was made in a public notice issued on Saturday, 14 June 2026, by the party’s National Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya.
According to the notice, the decision follows the publication of the Constituency Register of Eligible Voters (CREVs) on the APC’s official website on 8 June 2026, in accordance with Article 54(h) of the APC Constitution (2022).
However, the party clarified that the directive will not apply to constituencies where ward elections are currently under review by the Independent Elections Complaints Board (IECB) as a result of petitions and complaints filed during the ward-level electoral process.
The APC stated that elections in the affected constituencies will be postponed until the IECB completes its review and the party issues further directives regarding the conduct of those elections.
In its statement, the party described the constituency elections as a significant step in strengthening internal democracy and consolidating its organizational structures ahead of future political engagements.
Party officials called on aspirants, delegates and members to cooperate fully with the Independent Elections Management Committee (IEMC) to ensure that the elections are conducted in a peaceful, transparent, free and fair manner.
The APC further disclosed that both the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) and the Sierra Leone Police have been formally notified of the election schedule.
The upcoming constituency elections form part of the APC’s broader internal restructuring and leadership selection process as the party continues efforts to strengthen its grassroots structures across the country.
