Freetown, Thursday 21 August 2025 – The Western Area Football Association (WAFA) has announced the suspension of the much-anticipated Central One Football Association (COFA) Community League, which was scheduled to kick off on Sunday, 31st August 2025.
In a statement issued on Thursday, WAFA said the decision was taken following “serious concerns over administrative irregularities and non-compliance with directives.”
As part of the suspension, WAFA has instructed relevant authorities to restrict the use of facilities for the league until further notice.
Secretary General Benjamin Gordon, who signed the release, stressed that the move is aimed at promoting transparency and strengthening football governance.
He assured stakeholders and community teams that updates will be provided in due course.
