Freetown, Sierra Leone — A group of 266 home-based Sierra Leonean pilgrims arrived safely at the Freetown International Airport in Lungi on Monday, 8 June 2026, after completing the 1447H/2026 Hajj pilgrimage in Makkah.
The pilgrims expressed deep gratitude to Allah for a successful and incident-free journey. They also commended the Government of Sierra Leone, the Presidential Taskforce on Hajj, and the Sierra Leone Embassy in Saudi Arabia for the smooth arrangements, quality accommodation, and overall welfare provided throughout the pilgrimage.
Many returnees described the experience as spiritually rewarding, highlighting the excellent hospitality, comfortable accommodation, and well-organized feeding arrangements during their stay in the holy cities.
Speaking upon arrival, Chief Whip of Parliament, Hon. Alhaji Dixon Rogers, said the pilgrimage had strengthened his faith. “It gave me the opportunity to pray for Sierra Leone and its leadership,” he added.
Sierra Leone’s Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Abdul Aziz Turay, praised the government’s ongoing reforms in the Hajj process.
He noted that pilgrims this year benefited from more organized and efficient travel arrangements compared to previous years.
The third and final batch of Sierra Leonean home-based Hajj pilgrims is scheduled to depart Jeddah for Freetown on Tuesday, 9 June 2026.
