In a bid to enhance the good working relationship between the Ministry of Transport and Aviation and the Sierra Leone Motor Driver’s Union today, the National Executive paid courtesy call on the New Minister of Transport and Aviation.
In his welcome address, the Minister of Transport and Aviation, Honorable Retired Colonel Ambassador Alhaji Fanday Turay Esq. expressed his gratitude for the visit,adding that, he was very pleased to meet with the delegation.
He said that he had been briefed on the existing good relationship between the Ministry and the Union, noting that before assuming office as the new Transport Minister in the sector, he had a very strong relationship with some members of the National Executive over two decades now.
He emphasized the importance of the transport sector in achieving the Big Five game changer in President Bio’s Manifesto among others such as Agriculture.
He maintained that the Transport sector is key in achieving the feed Salone agenda, pointing out that, through the transportation of goods and services from the province to the City and out of the country plays a significant role in the socio-economic growth, economic competitiveness and human capacity development of the Country.
He assured the delegation of the Ministry’s continued support and cooperation towards the development of the transport sector, adding that him and his deputy offices are opened to them at all times.
He called on the union to continue supporting the government and the Ministry in its strive towards a resilient and sustainable transport system in the country.
In his statement, the President of the National Motor Driver’s Union, Alpha Bah on behalf of the union expressed thanks and appreciation to the Honorable Minister and his Deputy for the warm welcome.
He congratulated the new Minister on his appointment and the deputy on his reappointment,adding that President Bio didn’t make any mistake to choose the two proactive and fine gentlemen as the Country’s Minister and Deputy Minister of Transport and Aviation.
He thanked the President and entire Management of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation for the leadership and supervisory role in the transport sector.
He assured the Minister of his Union continued cooperation and collaboration in ensuring the development of the country’s transport sector.
