Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Sierra Leone Immigration Department has announced that it will resume the naturalisation process starting October 1, 2024. Foreign nationals wishing to become citizens of Sierra Leone are encouraged to submit their applications in accordance with the department’s guidelines.
The application form for naturalisation is available at the office of the Chief Immigration Officer. Applicants must complete the form and submit it along with the required documents, which include:
– A valid national passport
– Three passport-sized photographs
– Birth certificate (if applicable)
– Marriage certificate (if applicable)
– Change of name deed (if applicable)
– Proof of a parent’s status (if applicable)
– Proof of residence in Sierra Leone for the past eight years
– Records of travel in and out of the country over the last five years
– Evidence of current employment or business
– Proof of earnings for the past five years (payslips or bank statements)
The department advises all prospective applicants to ensure they have the necessary documents to avoid delays or the refusal of their applications.
