The Sierra Leone Police (SLP), through the Freetown-East Regional Operations Team under the leadership of AIG Brima Kanneh, Regional Commander of Freetown-East, provided comprehensive security coverage and closely monitored the conduct of the Guinean legislative and municipal elections held in Calabatown, Freetown, on Sunday, 31st May 2026.
The elections took place at the Fullah Mosque on Robis Road and attracted a significant number of Guinean nationals residing within the Freetown-East region. To ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the electoral process, police personnel were strategically deployed in and around the polling centre.
Reports from the field indicated that the voting exercise was conducted in a calm, orderly, and well-coordinated manner, with no incidents of violence, disorder, or disruption recorded throughout the day.
The visible presence of security personnel played a vital role in maintaining public order, safeguarding voters, and enhancing confidence in the electoral process.
The Sierra Leone Police remains committed to supporting peaceful democratic processes and ensuring the safety and security of all residents and foreign nationals within its jurisdiction.
