Freetown, Sierra Leone – April 21, 2026 — Proceedings in the case involving popular Sierra Leonean rapper Alhaji Amadu Bah (LAJ) and the Mayor of Kenema were on Tuesday adjourned to April 28, 2026, after the presiding magistrate failed to sit due to reported illness.
A source familiar with the matter told Liberty Online TV that the case, which was scheduled for hearing on Tuesday, could not proceed in the absence of the magistrate, prompting the court to fix a new date for continuation.
The accused, widely known as King Boss La, remains in custody pending the next hearing.
The case stems from a dispute involving the artist and the Kenema City Mayor, though full details of the charges have not been publicly outlined in court.
Legal observers say the adjournment may further delay clarity on the nature and progress of the proceedings.
The latest development comes shortly after the rapper made a public appeal, urging the Mayor of Kenema to forgive him over remarks he admitted were made “out of strong emotions.”
The appeal has since generated mixed reactions among fans and the wider public, with some calling for reconciliation while others insist the legal process should take its course.
Court proceedings are expected to resume on April 28, when the magistrate is anticipated to return and the matter formally continues.
With the latest development, Boss LAJ is expected to spend Sierra Leone’s Independence Day celebrations in custody, and miss his musical concert that is slated to take place on 24 April 2026 at Sugar Land Beach in Freetown.
