The Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA) of Sierra Leone has unveiled new fuel prices effective today, August 5, 2024.
This revision is in response to rising global petroleum prices and a slight depreciation of the Leone against the US dollar.
In a recent press release, the PRA attributed the increase in global market prices to heightened demand during the summer season.
Concurrently, the Leone saw a modest decline of 0.43% against the USD in July, shifting from NLe23.28 to NLe23.38.
The release also highlighted an under-recovery of NLe0.36 for petrol, which has been mitigated through a price correction levy. Additionally, a debt recovery levy has been implemented to recoup NLe0.97 for petrol and NLe0.24 for diesel, aiming to stabilize the market.
The updated pump prices for August 2024 are as follows:
– Petrol: NLe28.50 per litre
– Diesel: NLe28.50 per litre
– Kerosene: NLe27.49 per litre
– Fuel Oil: NLe25.89 per litre
These new prices will remain in effect until the PRA issues further notice.
